I shot the XD terrifically, especially as a newbie. I noted the features on the XD that were lacking on the Glock (ambi mag release, grip safety, chamber loaded indicator, striker-cocked indicator). And I went w/ the XD. I couldn't see paying more and getting less. XDs are at least as dependable as Glocks.

And the aftermarket options are expanding to the point where while glock might have more options still, most upgrades/holsters/changes that people will want are available for both m&p and glock.
