Honestly I think Ikea cover panels are an after thought for them. I think Ikea cabinets probably work best with galley kitchens where you don't have to worry about the ends as much. And if you look at the kitchen displays at Ikea closely, you will notice that the way they use cover panels and light trim is kind of sloppy in places.
