My instruction manual specifically states: "Press in on on right-hand end of slide stop and and pull slide stop out of frame to the left until it locks in its withdrawn position.

After removing the firing pin and cleaning the channel. simply wipe the firing lightly with a cloth with a drop or two of oil on it. Oil collects dirt and that dirt will eventually gum up the firing pin. I'd pull the Security 9 apart and re clean the channel before I'd send it back to Ruger.The gun was designed & advertised to lock back the slide on an empty magazine after shooting. 2. It fails to do that reliably. 3. The cause is a poorly designed and poorly toleranced magazine, follower, slide lock actuator tab and springs. 4. The fix in 99% of the cases is a higher quality, stronger magazine spring.

This being my first pistol I didn't know, I'd recently taken down a Glock and you had to pull that trigger. The same thing happened to me with a Stoeger shotgun, but neither owners manual mentions this.
