There is a fuse box under the hood on the driver's side (with spare fuses in the lid) and another in the driver's side under dash. Both covers have legends on them describing the fuses. I'm not saying this is an ideal way of handling this, but this could explain it.

The motor could be "tired", and that is why it's slower when using just the 12 V from the driver ... No taking apart anything or window lube required. Turn on your engine, then roll down your passenger side front window all the way and continue holding down the switch for over 5 seconds. Then immediately roll it all the way up and once it closes, hold it again for 5 seconds.
