Seamoth is more useful imo. I used it as my main vehicle for everything right down to it's max depth limit, for everything else I used Cyclops and Seaglide. I basically only ever used the Prawn for going inside the lava castle, and for mining obviously.

That being said, we apparently lose the knoweledge needed to build subs within the next century, since 1,5 km isn't that much unless we're talking about military subs that don't really have to go that deep (their max. depth generally 1km, I think).
