Someone has messed with your truck and never told you, bad bad news.There are four primary emissions systems on the L5P. EGR, DOC, SCR, and DPF. All of these systems with the exception of EGR sit within the exhaust system. Deleting the L5P DPF will remove not only the DPF but also the DOC and SCR components, and the need for DEF fluid. Yes. You need to force all of the def system components (in a nutshell) to run their tests with a scan tool to clear these sorts of def system messages and functions. What I've read is that when the temps are low, like the 21F shown on your dash, the DEF will start to freeze and expand setting off a sensor. Once the DEF's contracted back by turning back fully to liquid, the message goes away because the sensor is no longer tripped. I'm getting a "Low Quality DEF" warning on the DIC and the only code that pops is P249D - that code looks like it could be a bad DEF injector. The last time I saw the DEF gauge, it said 24%, before the warning popped up (it really sucks that you can't use the DIC at all while the warning is active).
