I have pulled the alternator off and had it checked, verified that the battery is grounded properly and has a full charge, the battery is a year old.

A couple of thoughts on this. If you screw up something with the wheel speed sensors you cause all 3 functions of the ABS system to fail. So if you don't see 3 service messages the problem isn't caused by a wheel speed sensor. The recall with the comb prevented fretting of the contacts in the steering sensor connector.
