The helicopter will never spawn on world day 1. It will only come on day 6-11. However character day 1 and world day 1 can be really different. On the bright side however, you can just watch your zombified character shamble around till the chopper goes away, then start a fresh character and not worry about the chopper coming at all.

Have a working car ready with some food and water in it, when heli shows up jump in car and drive as fast as you can far away from your base. Or just travel and loot till heli shows up, then go back to your permenant base once its safe again.
