Obviously, your King Quad doesn’t have a carb like your generator, instead has an injector . There is a crude “filter” (sock) that will restrict larger debris, but fine contaminants can pass through.

To answer directly, yes! They are reliable. Now with that said, I still have the original Hinda Foreman from 1985, I have changed the battery only 3 times! My Honda's have been very very reliable.
