The P is a great duty size carry and range gun. And will shoot softer than a C or C2. The XC ($4300) model is constantly rated as most peoples favorite gun. It's a light recoiling flat shooter. But is more of a range/competition gun than a carry gun. Watch and Pray.
Springfield Prodigy has a 4.25-inch barrel, while Staccato XC has a 5.0-inch barrel. Prodigy is slightly heavier in weight compared to the Staccato XC. I would not buy a current gen iron sights only Staccato P. Staccato won't mill those guns in post production so you're only options if you ever decided you wanted to run an optic would be a dovetail mount (gross) or having an after market company mill your slide which would torpedo your lifetime warranty with Staccato. 2.

Part of my decision was - I had the money for the Staccato now. So it would be easier to buy the Staccato now, and then easier to come up with less $$ if I wanted to add a Prodigy later. Love the Staccato P. Have not had the desire to go back and add the prodigy. HOWEVER, I have added a Sig P229 Legion SAO since buying the Staccato P.

Like I said, I’ve never had a 1911 before so I don’t have anything to compare it to other than my striker fired guns. I’ve been looking at Staccatos for the last few weeks and was tempted until I learned about the prodigy a week ago. The Staccato is probably the better but I don’t know if it’s going to be $1200 better.
IMO (having owned a P DUO and picked up a Prodigy this morning) the Staccato has better build quality. The frame and slide finish is superior, the slide to rail fitment is slightly better (slide racks more smoothly on the Staccato) and the Staccato trigger is slightly crisper and lighter.
