The app has been buggy for a long time before tvOS 16. If you leave the episode and go back to it and select Continue (ie where you left off), it will go to the place where you left off and then the audio loops repeatedly. Sometimes if you leave the episode the audio will continue to play and you have to restart the whole Apple TV.
