Against normal enemies, however (specially poise mobs) it sucks ass. My build is pure dex, I have only 16 in str in order to use the Chaos Blade and the normal Estoc is mainly a quality weapon. Sharp infusion increases the dex scale but lowers the base dmg, so that's not really a big deal.I'm leaning towards the Rapier since it has a more familiar moveset to me, the same scaling, and only slightly lower base damage at level 15 than the Estoc (less than 10 points' difference). What do you all think about the estoc? I have it upgraded +10 with darkness but i can't seem to hit high. Also i have 18 dex and 40 strength since estoc scales better with strenght. Shall i go for lighting, bleed, magic?

BurningLance 7 years ago #10. well if you go Quality then Refined is the best. since you plan to go Str for a while then Heavy is good. im doing a Dex/Luck and atm with 29 in both and Hollow infusion gives more dmg than the Sharp infusion (even if Sharp bumps dex scaling to B) which is very good for Estocs.Starting this new character, I'm rushing for the Estoc. It's amazing. It's one of if not the best weapon right now (rivaled by I believe the Sunlight Straight Sword and the Dark Sword). You have low stamina costs. A decent C/C scaling with refined. A great move set.In PvP, not PvE, how do people not read the title. Estoc has low AR and almost no moveset, punishing rolls doesn't matter. procs bleed fast. If 10 hits is "fast". Anyway OP, the correct answer is "longsword." Better AR, better moveset. Estoc and Lothric are simply inferior. The Estoc has more synergy with the stone ring too, allowing for it to be better at stunning than the Rapier.

Comboing makes all the difference between a casual Estoc user and a master. You can kill newbies with R1’s for sure, but against a good player you just get parried. Play cleverly. I’d say Ricard’s Rapier is better, but even harder to use. Crow quills have the best critical dmg and scaling of dex thrusting swords.

I think Estoc is best in 1v1 PvP really. It makes a decent off hand weapon as well, since you can pull out a quick poke. But for PvE straight swords are a better choice.
