From what I've heard and read, it's not necessarily a scam but not really worth spending the $95 membership fee on either. Wouldn't call it a scam, but more of a cash grab unless you really need something on your resume. It's not worth it. I did it sophomore year.

Also, it is not directly associated with your college, there is one faculty member that is the "advisor" (probably paid a bunch by the society). I haven't even heard from my college's chapter about a single physical meeting.
